Dodged a bullet of sorts

Seems to have dodged a bullet of sorts today.

Looked everything over before my last trip offroad last weekend. Have only put about 15 miles on the truck since then. Had a pretty day so decided to clean up the truck.

Since it'd been a while since I detailed the engine I figgured I'd start there. Popped the hood and SUPRISE my K&N cold air filter has popped off the tube! The dang thing had been sucking in raw air.
Not going to even blame K&N or yell about it being common or anything. I've been running a K&N FIPK kit on all of my trucks since 1998 and this is the first time I've had this happen.

Pulled everything apart and cleaned it all up. Everything seems to be running alright. I was sure glad I decided to clean up the engine today.

unfiltered air for 15 miles wont kill your engine, just check your oil condition on the dipstick to be sure.

Happen to me 2 times with my K&N FIPK in less then 1 month... Made sure every time that it was tight and secure, but come off anyway.

So took the intake off completly.

I have the cheap ebay filter on my CAI and I've never had a problem with it coming off.

I agree. You southerners may not know this, but most snow blowers run on unfiltered air.

Could have been worse... Like getting some of that nasty river mud/sand/water in there
