Congrats on paying it off, and to have the feeling of knowing your truck is now fully yours is awesome. I paid the downpay on my truck ( $3k ) when I bought it and when I decided I liked it a few months later I paid it off completely with some savings I had.

Made my last car payment in 1986 and will never again buy more of a car or truck for myself or my wife than what we can write a check for. BTW this 2008 Super Crew XLT was the first new vehicle we have purchased since 1994 - usually used (1 or 2 years old) is a far better choice financially.
These are the kind of things my old man always told me.
I just wish I could do it, instead of borrowing and knowing I could be doing better for myself if I were smarter with my money.
I'm not drowning in debt or anything, but it still bugs me to owe anything at all.

I got two years left on the truck....and 28 years on the house.....damn it never ends, and as much as I like to pay stuff off it just gives me room in the income to buy something else. It's a never ending cycle.

Two more years for me then I'm thinking about getting my own place.
I thought about getting a new truck when this one's paid for rather than move out.
I asked my dad if he would help with new payments but, he just gave me the same old excuses...

"Son, your mother and I are on a fixed income, besides you're 53 years old."

Congrats I hope to be there very soon myself once I get my tax refund I opted to take the first time home buyers credit/loan so that will pay off the truck. Then I can split what I pay on the truck now save half and take the other half put that towards my morgage and other debts to get them paid off faster.

Not to mention that you can usually negotiate a better deal when they know that you have the cash to do the deal, no need to determine if you can get a loan, etc. The salesmen know that you are going to do a deal if they can reach an agreeable price.

Congrats to everyone who has gotten theirs paid off!

I was very lucky to get my paid off in 24 months.

It is a great feeling and the best part is not having to see that bill in the mail every month!

The bad part is we had to buy my Wife a car.

I was hoping to get a year out of her old one (2000 Olds Bravada) but it needed more repairs than it was worth.

You just can't win.. Anyway, we are liking the 08 Limited Taurus X Crossover we got for her.

3 Row seating, Leather, AWD, Microsoft Sync, DVD for the kids.

I'm sure by the time it's paid off, my truck will need replaced.. I hope not!
