I really started to see this when my insurance adjuster's estimate was a bit higher than the other one - looked like a screwing coming.......

My body shop guy said the same as you greencrew - that I am better off letting my insurance handle the repairs and getting their money back.

Thanks for all the input and advise guys - it does help calm my nerves a bit!
I just got hit from behind Friday and I still don't have any info from the other guy.

They even have frame section and detailed instructions as to where to cut and weld, the new sections are swaged to fit into the original.

I was able to drive truck home but it felt different. It will take 10 days to get any info about the other driver. My truck is a 2011 F150 Ecco Boost and I don't have gap but I paid a lot down and almost have it paid off. I owe less then $5000. and paid over $40,000 new less then 2 years ago. I don't want a new wrecked paid off truck. I was wanting to have a new truck paid off in 2 years. What do you think they will do to my truck? Fix it or replace it?
If the frame is bent, but the vehicle is not totaled, more than likely they will replace the frame. In which case the vehicle is no different than the day you drove it off the lot. Had mine replaced a couple of years ago. Just like new.

More than likely they will replace the whole thing rather than a part. Frames cost is around 3K plus labor to do the move. Trying to cut and weld in the new piece correctly could cost just as much as putting in a new one, and you would still have the possibility of it being out of wack.

I know what you are saying, but Ford makes the sections, like a front clip, rear clip, etc and the old frame is cut and new one has ends that slide in place and when lined up, it's welded to high standard.

I saw one being done on an '10 and after seeing how it's done, I'ld trust it.

I can only say they did not do this with mine. The only thing bent was the front horns/front section. They replaced the whole thing. As for replaceable sections, are you talking prior to 04 or after? It would be much more difficult with after as it is a boxed frame. I know the box portion is not all that thick, as it does not need to be. Much like a thick sheet metal. More difficult to weld without warping. Also you would have to remove/replace almost as much as when replacing the whole frame.

anyone know where i can get a diminished value price for my truck if they decide to fix it or try to they are talking a full frame off rebuild for only $20k and would be another month before i would see the truck back if that. numbers are not adding up to me. ya the truck was over 40k new but that doesn't mean its worth 40k there are several dealers and online truck places listing the same truck now and used 15 models for 32k to 35k. Thoughts from anyone would be helpful on this i am supposed to have this info back from body shop today and then insurance from at fault party will come out to look at it. had new truck 6 days that was it 370 miles on it we only put 200 if that on it, and been off work since the accident january 13th.
