HID's in Foglights Over Kill?
 

I've been researching ect.

I decided im def. going to get HID's....but with the 2004-2006 foglights do you think If I put HID's in there, will it be overkill on the road. To begin with the headlights will be bright enough and with the fogs, im thinking its gonna be way to bright...


Should I just get the Headlights or also the fogs

I just put in a set of HID's on my 2wd and had to aim them way down not to blind people. If you have a 4wd or a lift you will probably catch some grief on the road. There are plenty of guys on here that have HID heads and fogs but just the heads are plenty bright enough for me.

not sure where you live, but there are ALOT of dark back roads with ALOT of deer that like to run out at you where i'm at, every extra bit of light helps! but seriously, aimed properly they'll be fine. also a high quality bulb will put the "arc" exactly where the "filament" was positioned in the housing easing the effect of glare, especially with the heads. i'll try to snap some pics of mine in the next day or so when i get my camera back.

Here are some pics of my HID's. I dont not aim them down at all left them same as stock height and its not blinding at all. I have HID's in the head lights stock lights in the fogs, still deciding if im gonna get HID's for the fogs.

You need to have the bulbs coated or use reflector shields for the bulbs in the fog lights. If you don't they will blind the crap out of people and the beam pattern is pretty much just crap.

Im thinking im just gonna go ahead and get 35 Watt for the fogs. But leave them off until I need to use them. I dont want to blind people, im sure the HID's in the headlights will do a good enough job.

Ive got 55w in my heads and fogs. Usually drive with my fogs off so I dont burn peoples retnas. I love the light output on back roads, pastures, off roading, ect. As soon as money allows im getting a set for my kc daylighters.

If you don't get the fogs the first go round, you'll regret it. I would suggest 55w for the heads and 35w for the fogs though, and nothing above 6000K. And YES you SHOULD re-aim them.

I had both on my truck by I started having issues with my heads. One bulb wasn't working right. I took the heads out and left the fogs in. I'm glad I did, the fogs make such a difference. I am tempted to put my heads back in but I have the Hella Grill and it looks so much better with both my high beams and off road lights going at the same time.

I have both and would not change it! I want as much light out put as I can when I am on back dark roads. I did this with the bambi mod so I can run fogs with highs. With them on and the highs on it fills in perfectly. I have a solid light pattern as far out as I could ask for. I re-aimed the lights per factory specs with the heads and have had zero issues with blinding people.

Just curious what are the factory specs for aiming the heads and the fogs? I think my heads might be too low.

I personally think if you can see the HID bulb it is way too bright. The bulbs are blinding, the output is insane compared to a halogen bulb. I made custom cutoff reflectors on my fogs so I can run them and not cause an accident. Look at the imported cars for ideas. The bulbs have shields for correct cutoff and glare. The headlights are fine because they have that little hat that shields the bulb.
