Gas mileage

What is the average gas mileage for an '06 Supercab 4x4 with a 5.4?

Im real close to buying one and just wanted to see how bad its gonna be on gas.

Anybody think Im nuts for trading in a car that gets 30+ mpg for a truck that probably gets half that?

Depends on how much city vs. highway driving you do.

On a stock 4x4 I'd expect around 14-15 in the city and 18 or so on the highway.

Not crazy at all, these trucks are wonderful!

Edited to Add: Dang bigdog, I get 11-12 in the city and 15+ on the highway... and I've got 20" wheels and 35" tires! I've got 3.73 gears though.

I average about 14-16 in my 08 Screw FX4 with mostly city driving, so I'm sure the mileage will be about the same if not a litte better.

And no your not crazy for trading in a +30 mpg car for truck.

That kind of mileage doesnt seem too bad. It seems like what my brother gets with his '01 regular cab 4x4 with a 4.6.

This truck is totally stock and I intend to keep it that way. I really dont like modding a daily driver.

I drive mainly highway with some city mixed in. I drive about 325-350 miles a week. Work is 23 miles away.

I thought I was a little nuts because Im cutting the mileage in half but still driving the same distance.

A truck will be better for getting my quad places and I can tow my Mustang with it. I can tow my quad around with my Elantra but not my Mustang.

In all honesty its been a great car since I bought it new in '05 but Ive been wanting a truck lately. I kinda miss having one and it sucks having to borrow one of my brothers' trucks when I need one.

Yeah, the prices went up about 30 cents in the past few weeks here. Still better than $4 a gallon though but we'll probably see that again.
