ok heres and example

lets say you have 3.73 gears.

and your stock tire size 275/65/18 which it 32.07 inches tall

and you what to up grade to a 35.

so the formula is like this

35x3.73=130.55

130.55/32.0z=4.07

since they dont make a 4.07 gear you would use 4.10 gears. this will keep your speedo correct and it will "feel" the same as stock, (32s with 3.73s) and rpms on the highway will be the same. which will give you around the same gas mileage. but if you want to up grade to a 4.56 gear then you will have more low end and your rpms will be higher on the highway but you should keep the same gas mileage because of the wider tire and more weight. i would suggest 4.56 gears over 4.10s because it will accelerate better and should still see good gas mileage on the highway and in town.

I hope that answer your question if you need more help feel free to ask.
