ADVICE: Trading 04 SuperCab for an 07 Screw

Hello all,
I hope this is the best place to post this... I enjoy reading the forums here and have got a bunch of useful information from everyone. I appreciate having somewhere to go when you need some info. I am looking for everyone's advice/opinion. I have a 2004 F-150 Supercab Lariat 53000mi, Oxford White, 4WD 3.73LS, Spray in bedliner, tonneu cover, towing pkg, Ford Chrome step bars, sunroof, pwr slide rear glass, custom dual exhaust, and chrome door handle covers. I have been looking for a used supercrew with the 6.5ft bed (which are almost rare) with pretty much the same options plus heated seats which I found one locally. I am going to look at it, but it is an 07 Lariat loaded with everything including nav. 26,500miles and 4WD the online price is $27988. I am thinking that is way too high but what do you guys think is a fair price. And what would be a good offer on me trading mine in? I would appreiate everyone's input! Thanks!

2007 F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 6.5ft bed White Sand Tri Coat Met.

Can you take some more pics. It doesn't sound bad. Maybe you can get them to lower the price 1K-3K, If possible.

Those are the dealers photos from their website. I haven't actually been there yet to look at or drive it yet. That is what I had in mind, around $25000 for their truck...

Using Edmunds as a guideline, plus what I'm seeing around here....

The 07 should be around $23k

Trade-in on your 04 is around $11k, IF you can get a dealer to actually give you close to book, which is pretty tough right now, they are using auction prices which will be more like $8-9k...you'd probably be better off trying to sell it yourself $13-14k.

Good luck, that 07 is a nice looking truck.

I'd guess about $9,000 trade-in

but that 07 is overpriced at least $5,000 to me. You can get a brand new 08 model for that price...maybe not a fully loaded Lariat, but a Lariat nonethless for $28,000

I'd go in and pay $22-23,000 for it max

Your concern is not the price of the truck but the difference they want between the trucks. Decide what you are willing to pay and attempt to trade based on what you want to pay. The price may be high to allow the customer more for their trade-in.

I would not take less then 11k trade for your truck and not pay more than 23k for theirs.

Don't let them know that the 6.5' bed is what you are looking for, make that sound like a potential negative.

Talk them DOwn!

Well I appreciate everyones input. You guys are great! I did go and look at it, and was told that they are selling it on consignment for another dealership. That doesn't make sense to me, so I asked how they ended up with it. She said that the original dealership (wouldn't tell me who) couldn't sell it so they asked for help. I said thats why they can't sell it, because they're asking 28K for it. I said I like the truck, but I could buy a brand new 2WD King Ranch for around 30K, so why would anyone pay that? She just laughed. I didn't even drive it. I told her that I'd be back in a few months, she asked why... I said so you can make me a deal on that truck, because I know you'll still have it. Oh what fun at a stealership.... I think I'm just gonna put the 2'' AS leveling kit on mine and the 08 TT mirrors, get me a gryphon and drive the heck out of it...

Swapping vehicles between dealerships is common. Most of them have the same ultimate owner. They switch it around a while and if it does not sell, they take it to the wholesale auction. Don't expect a deal.

Dealerships suck!! and your right they will have that truck next year and the year after. I honestly think dealerships would rather it rot on the lot than make people a good deal.
