Tint question
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I am thinking of tinting my front windows to match the back ones on my 06 Screw. I believe the factory tint is 20%, correct? Should I go with the same on the front windows and what about the windshield, any tint on there? I have never tinted windows before so any good how to sites anyone can link for me? Also any pics of how it will come out, differences in shades, etc... I tried searching but cant really seem to find a how to post, or a good picture post showing the different levels. I'm not looking to go really limo dark, just enough to look better and make it a little tougher to see whats inside the cab but I still need to be able to see at night and to back up, etc....

I started a thread a few weeks back just do a "Search" Its' somthing like "Factory Screw tint %5 or 10%"
Sorry don't have the exact link....:) |
i basically went to the window tint place and told them to match the front tint up to the back window tints on my screw. they never told me what percent they put on but it looks perfect. ill post some pics up soon. i assume its around 15% but i'm not positive.

I have heard that the factory are between 15 and 20. I went with 15.

i highly recommend them. they do a great job there, and thats all they do is window tinting. i cant remember if they did 15 or 20% but it matches the back perfectly and comes with lifetime warranty |
i think i went with 15%.

I got 15% put up front, and 15% over the rear back, my back windows, are DARRRRKKK. It's really hard to backup at night . Just go to a tint place, and say match the front to the rea

Thanks for the replies, it seems 15-20% is the norm and looks like a pretty good match. Has anyone done it themselves? Easy, hard? I just hate to have other people work on my stuff especially if its somthing I can do alot cheaper...
|
I'd say go with 15 if you want to match. I put 20% on my front windows and i thought it would match up, but it's actually noticably lighter than the back windows.

So orginally went to my tint guy to just match the front to the stock tint. Ended up getting "LIMO" tint all around and man what a difference it made. Recently, I got pulled over and got a fix it ticket, and I went ahead and took off the front and put 15% on the front. But honestly once you go "LIMO" its hard to go to 15% just because of such a difference it is.
Good thing the tint guy lives down my street...got it all done for $80 then $40 to put the 15% on...but he said he will do "LIMO" for free up front. |
he showed steps and it turned out great take a look.

If you're interested in tinting it yourself, there's a lot of helpful information at tintdude.com. Buy the pre-cut tint, it looks cleaner for beginners.

I would like to do this but what are the legalities? I thought it was illegal to have the front side windows tinted... or do they look the other way?
