05' GURU's Opinions PLEASE! MAJOR ISSUES.

I've posted before with other ?'s

I was going to trade in my 05' F-150 5.4 a monnth ago or so, but my wife insisted I keep it. I've got 50k on it now. A month ago I had my #8 plug broke off, had new plugs and a coil put in. Ran fine until the other day.

My truck shutters real bad and the check engine light blinks. And the occational demming of lights. Took it to a family mechanic and he told me I need to take it to Ford to have them put it on a Ford computer. Anyone with some help it would be greatly appreciated.

Flashing CEL means misfire. Mine did the same and resulted in a stuck injector which resulted in a new engine. All covered under the extended warranty offered by Ford for the injectors.

What brand plugs?

DaMoose81 Jan 12, 2009 11:01 AM

yeah, sounds like its either a spark plug, wire, or a fuel injector

Nearly an IDENTICAL symptom to how it felt/looked when my injectors went out.

I've got to ask. How does a spark plug just break off? Answer: They don't - unless something causes them to break. So, unless you were trying to replace your plugs (a nightmare on '04-'05's) or an injector stuck and hydrolocked the engine ...

Like RP said, get it to a dealer. Your warranty has been extended for injector problems and you may just get to check it out.

Sounds like an injector issue. If it is it may be covered under the 2005 extended injector coverage.

Thanks for the input. Did Ford extend the warranty on the injectors or did I need an extended warranty? I didn't purchase an extended warranty.

Ford Extended the warranty.
