Center Console - Painting

I will be replacing the jump seat/console with the on the floor console that comes in some XLTs. It is not the one that has the shifter.

I am thinking about sanding and painting it to get rid of some of the scratches from the previous owner.

My questions:

Does anybody have pictures of a painted console like this?

What sort of prep work should I do first?

What paints and or primers should I use?

Thanks in advance.

Here is my old one after I painted it

and before

I painted mine to match the black and silver in FX4's. All I did for prep was wash it with soap and water to clean it up.

Use a flat color. Doesn't need any prep work other then wiping down with some acetone. I sanded mine, but the finish would of been much smoother without sanding. Any paint will work. I used whatever I had. I think it was rustoleum.
