Removing the dash

I have removed the dash numerous times in my 96 ranger, but i wouldnt know where to start with this truck. Does anyone/anyplace have a step by step breakdown of dismantlement the dash? I want to paint the gray parts black in the interior of the truck sometime soon.

If you are talking about the 4 vert. parts of dash, that is the main dash. EVERYTHING will have to come apart, including the steering column. And if you have the flow thru console you will have to remove that as well.

Yeah, im talking about taking out the whole dash... i thought that was clear. I dont have the flow through center console though.

as already mentioned...everything must come off. This dash is better left alone.

Taking a dash apart does not scare me, i've done much larger projects. I guess no one has any insight, i'll just figure it out myself. thanks.

I want to apologize for being a ****, i had a really ****ty day yesterday and the last thing i wanted to hear was people telling me i couldnt do something. i still plan on removing the dash at some point to paint it, if i am the first i guess i should take some pictures of how to do it. :p

Haynes manual for $16 at autozone or Pep Boys would walk you through it..

I can tell you where 4 bolts are...but the rest of the dash is like a damn 3d puzzle of chinese characters. some stuff makes sense, and other pieces don't

best of luck and make sure to get lots of pictures

I have an asian friend, maybe she could be of some use. On second thought, she'd probably be a distraction.

Search, it's been done.

apeiron 09-27-2008 01:56 AM

oh it has, i wonder why everyone said it was impossible to do?

Well i searched and no one gives any step by step info, however i did find that the parts i want to paint can just be unscrewed or pulled off in typical ford fashion. Can anyone give me some insight on how to remove these pieces like this guy did?

That is all i need to remove to paint black, i want to put carbon fiber the other pieces, so this may be alot easier than i thought.

Tylus 09-27-2008 02:29 AM

are you talking about the part that is left?

or the parts that are missing?

the missing pieces primarily are the push/snap type. you can see what I'm talking about for the passengers dash. there are a few screws in there also, but you'll see them when the trim pieces are removed

crashtheline 09-27-2008 03:53 PM

... Your not really gonna get any help with that attitude, IMO.

apeiron 09-27-2008 04:03 PM

^ thanks for yet another pointless post in my thread from you. I searched, like you asked, and i found a picture that could help me, yet you're still on my ass about nothing, i wonder, who really has the attitude here?
