Service of the Transfer Case

I looked at the transfer case tonight & located the Drain/fill socket bolts on the rear of the transfer case. Looks like I will have to drop the skid plate to avoid making a mess draining out the fluid. Question is how do you fill it back up with two quarts of Tranny Fluid? The top fill bolt is kinda high up, not much room to get any kind of flexible funnel positioned to refill it back up?........

use a squeeze bulb. you can use it to remove the fluid, and then flip it around...then can put fluid back in

about $10 or less at an autoparts store

I use one of these for any of those awkward projects:

Just get one with a flexible nozzle so you can get it where it needs to go.

Just use a fluid pump. They are like 6 bucks at the auto store.

What's the service interval on that? I have 34000 miles on my truck. I don't use my 4WD that much.

I had to use a fluid pump myself, there was absolutely no way to get a funnel in there.

Sorry to revive an old thread here, but I am at a loss. I have searched and searched for a pic of the transfer case drain and fill holes. Well, my 04 F150 doesn't seem to have a drain hole, just the fill hole. No sweat, as I can just use a pump (as suggested earlier) to get the old fluid out, but am I missing something? Does anyone have a pic of the drain and fill holes on the transfer case? My transfer case doesn't have a drain plug!

Edit: I think I answered my own question. There's no drain plug for the front differential - the fill/drain plugs spoken of in this thread refer to the transfer case, and not the front differential fluid. I apologize for making this thread jump to the top.

To drain the diff fluid, you unbolt the cover if it doesn't have a drain plug.
