'05 Screw won't start

Well I was heading home to FL from SC yesterday and after loading the truck up and hitting the road I noticed the truck was hesitating a little. Kinda like it was starving for fuel. Well I cut it off and it started back up and then didn't want to exceed 40mph. So I pulled into a gas station and turned it off. Only this time it wouldn't start back up. It would turn over but wouldn't fire up. Then after 8-10 trys to start it there was a pop noise and the starter wouldn't even turn the engine over anymore. So I had it towed and as of yet all I have heard is that they are going to put a new starter in for $400 and go from there. Any ideas?

Had to drive the wife's Mustang to FL instead and bitch every time I saw an F-150 go by. :p

Almost forgot... its an '05 Screw Lariat with the 5.4l, 4x4, 38k miles. And the only mods I have are a 2" AS, and Edge programmer.

Stuck injector.... that sucks man...

Good luck on the repair.

sounds like maybe the fuel pump? Or a severely clogged fuel filter?

I thought that probably had to be the answer. Guess we will see.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Sure sounds like a failed injector or two and hydro-locked your engine, just keep your fingers crossed that there is no other damage to the engine.

I thought hydro locking your engine was when water was sucked in through the intake. And the engine was pretty much done for.

Just got off the phone with the mechanic. Said its running on 4 cylinders. :(

And no warranty. This blows.

CraigH Aug 4, 2008 11:53 AM

If it is the injectors it's likely covered along with all the damage that occurred since you have an 05. Didn't you get "the letter"?

rudeskawn Aug 4, 2008 12:00 PM

No I did not receive "the letter", but I just got off the phone with the dealer and he told me to bring it in and if that is the problem then they will fix it free of charge. So as soon I get back to SC tomorrow I am gonna try to take care of it.

Thanks for all of the info guys.

A little update... not that most of you care ;)

The dealer picked up the truck and I am waiting to hear back from him. Hopefully its covered under their extended warranty.

Hope it is man, let us know on the outcome.

I am curious myself since the same thing will probably happen to me. Let us know.
