Part Numbers from Ford Service DVD's
Anyone know how to complete a Ford part number?
The Ford Service DVD's only give you a base number and you somehow need to get to a complete number in order to use the various Ford Part websites. Everything I see online is for vintage vehicles when it comes to deciphering part number structure. Any help would be great! |
Not sure how much of a help it is. But, tasca you can just select your year model then narrow down the list for the part you need instead of having a part number to find it. Plus once you find the part it should show the complete part number for it.

While that is another great site to order from, I am looking to do some specific things - so I really need to figure out how to get the full part number from the base number.

Thanks for the offer!
I will put together a list tonight or tomorrow and send it over. :) |
The first number in the prefix is the model year.
Second and third numbers are for the model. Fourth number is for the system (powertrain, body, electrical, etc.). For example: 8L2P-7000-AA would be for a 2008, Ranger, trans assembly (powertrain system)...first design level. In the suffix the second letter advances if there is a minor change to the part that does not affect interchangeability. The first letter of the suffix rolls if there is an interchangeability issue. That's it in a nutshell. |
