started to tint tails, not working for me.

so I followed various instruction on threads about tails on this site and others. I first wet sanded out the clear on the oem tails w/ 1500 grit, dish soap and water. I put a light layer of VHT Nightshades in the paint booth at work but its turned out kinda spotty / orange peal..... just not perfect.
no biggie right, so i lightly wet sanded again with 1500 but basically took it all off before happy. I have done like 3 coats not and I have never liked how a coat came out. Did a get a bad can on Nightshades?
do you guys just leave it looking all spotty till the end and the clear takes care of it?
Should i just buy a different can? and yes I followed instructions as far as shaking, spray distance, and cleaning the tip after use to keep clean and useful.
Thanks guys

Just a wild random thought.....how about the temp range listed on the can? Sometimes it can't be too hot or too cold.

Good luck with it.

never thought of that but the booth was more of a dust free zone, it wasnt in use when i was in their playing.... they keep it at room temp or a tick warmer when its not baking anything

If that doesn't work you can always go with Harley tails for $57.

So did you build up the coats or sand after each one?

That's what you should do. I sanded, put on enough coats till they were dark enough and let them set up, very lightly sanded, sprayed 3 coats of clear. I need to polish though........ But yeah, don't sand after every coat. Good luck!
