Sear's+UPS+60lb Battery=TROUBLE!!!
That sucks... As a gun dealer, I deal with UPS claims a lot. As soon as you report the item as damaged, they cut the sender a check for $100. Once UPS has the item back as an exhibit, the sender has to show how much the item is (was) worth. Doesn't matter if you insure it for $50,000, you only get what it is worth. Usually takes 10 days to get an insurance check from UPS. The sender eventually gets the item back. Which, in my case, the guns can usually be repaired.
They do have a nasty habit of just stuffing the damaged item into a generic box without packing material, and then passing it off to the recipient with no mention it was damaged. At least the post office will use the infamous red packing tape on damaged packages to let you know something is wrong.
