4th Ticket for HID's

Just FYI, be willing to take the risk. It's almost always due to the foglights but sometimes due to the heads.

Whats the ticket for exactly?

Do you have a plug and play sort of a kit, or did you do an actual retrofit with HID projectors from an OEM setup?

When I go HID, I am going to take the time to do a retrofit from an Acura TL most likely (I love the beam pattern and sharp cutoff line that the TL's projectors provide).

Your cops must be a-holes. I never had anyone complain about my HIDs in the black hella headlight housings. They cut off really good and are aimed at a good height for on coming traffic. I next to never get flashed and if I do it's usually the idiot that drives around with his brights on getting flashed himself. You know the type.

He's in Cali....doesn't surprise me. I would like to know what they keep writing him for tho

K1NGoftheRanch Apr 15, 2008 08:12 AM

same cop as always i take it?? that sucks dude

troberts6874 Apr 15, 2008 08:15 AM

i would guess the citation is for non dot certified lighting equipment or something to that effect....if its on his truck, being 4 foot off the ground might bring a little more attention

Patman Apr 15, 2008 08:38 AM

he gets tickets because HIDs are known to cause cancer in california

And deformities in small children.....

SilverFoX4 Apr 15, 2008 09:02 AM

What temperature bulb are you using?

rsbeachbum2 Apr 15, 2008 09:04 AM

That suck's man. The only time I've had a problem is when I'm behind a car at a light and it hit's their rear view.

ford2004F150 Apr 15, 2008 09:42 AM

Dude.... I can't say you didn't deserve those tickets. Blinding folks on the road with those bright-ass HIDs isn't a joke.

At this point you could have fixed the fogs with a srip of tin foil and got some Hella headlights for the glare with the money you spent on tickets.

You must have a great realtionship with your local traffic court Judge!......

lever Apr 15, 2008 11:41 AM

I still dont understand why he is getting tickets. HIDs are DOT approved correct? Is there a law stating you must have them in a certain type of headlight? Feel free to slap me and call me stupid if need be.

Midnight05 Apr 15, 2008 11:51 AM

i still dont really understand the law.... i mean some of the old escalades and acura's have HID's in non projector housings. and how is the officer finding out if yours arent DOT legal and theirs are?? sounds retarded to me.
