Flushing Raditor
I drained the coolant using the valve in the back at the bottom of the radiator area, then removed the thermostat.
Set it up to drain the coolant into a bucket, started the engine to force out the coolant, refilled the tank with my garden hose until it seemed to be clear, then added 5 gal of distilled water just to finalize the flush with distilled water, ran it until no more water was being pumped out.. shut down the motor and reconnected everything as it was, and refilled the system with the recommended coolant. However it only took about 1 1/2 gallons of coolant. I expected it to take five gallons.
Not sure what happened. Any suggestions or thoughts?

just run the motor and make sure the radiator is topped off. let the engine get warm and the pressure should take care of it for you.
just be sure to watch the engine temps just in case. you may have to periodically vent the radiator and refill...especially if you got all the water/coolant out of the block

I removed the Block Plug opened the lower valve rear of radiator and the filler cap which provided a unrestricted open air draining environment... the block plug was at the lowest level, there was a good amount of air bubbling up through the fill tank, no need to disconnect the lower radiator hose which would be simple on my truck.... thanks to all for their input I will keep an eye on everything to make sure no problems occur...
