Installing an Avic-d3

Does anyone have a picture of the Avic D3 wiring harness connected to cruthfield wiring harness? Installing this thing sure looks daunting...

EDIT: Which of the AVIC-D3 wires wont be used??

i can tell you dont have this in your hands yet. why? this was my first audio install EVER and the instructions from crutchfield were perfect. and i mean perfect. just match it up from the crutchfield instructions to poineers. we cant tell you what wires wont be used because it depends on what all you are installing.

i have the exact same setup and got the wiring harness from crutchfield as well and it was a piece of cake. just follow the instructions. The avic-d3 also makes it VERY easy by labeling all their wires. If your are just straight installing it just follow the directions you shouldnt have a problem. If you want to bypass the video while driving thats another question.

no, it's defiantly in my hands. All cruthfield sent was instructions on how to remove the paneling, which is easy. What the heck do I do with the VSS and reverse wires? I'm pretty sure I have everything else good to go.

for the most part all you got to do is match up the colors.

the vss wire connects to the ford(stock harness that you plug the aftermarket into) connect it to the gray/black stripe wire....the reverse wire is down alongside the driverside kickpanel, but can't remember which one it is.

Doesnt need to be from crutchfield, they kinda pricey. Here is one pretty cheap. You can also get them locally at BB, CC, WalMart, Autozone, etc. If you have the factory sub you will need an additional harness. You will also need a radio antenna adapter if you have an antenna you want to use (looks like you removed in your pics).

All the aftermarket HU i have installed, except one, required an adapter to plug-in the stock am/fm antenna. I dont have a D3 yet, so Im not sure if it needs it. The adapter would be available at CC or BB along with the wiring harness. You might send member Justi a PM and ask him if it is needed, he is the one who wrote the great write up linked to above. I skimmed the writeup but did not see mention of a radio adapter.

I needed it with my Avic Z2 on my 08 Mustang. It's a Chrysler adapter.
