Can't take it...rough ride
 
Hey guys...i recently put my wheels back on and i cant take the ride. I have some 305/55/20 nittos on it and it rides so rough. I've had the tires balanced three times with no luck. They have about 20k on them. My teeth almost chatter while driving...shakes the piss outta ya. My tires seem to be out of round. What the heck can i do? i keeeep waiting for my tires to wear out so i can get new ones.

Two things:
  1. Complete a Road Force Balance
  2. If the tires don't balance, have the tire shop do a wheel check to make sure the rims are straight
If they still chatter after that, you're wheels are most likely off center with the hub. Even right now you can check for this. To do so, jack up each side and check each wheel one at a time. Be very careful to hand tighten each lug nut just enough that the tire is a little loose.

Once you get to this point, take your ratchet and place it onto a nut. Instead of turning the ratchet, hold it and rotate the wheel until the nut is snug. Repeat for the other nuts, making sure to go to the opposite lug nut in a criss cross pattern. Then, tighten to spec.

Let us know if this solved the problem.

have you checked the suspension components in the front end for wear? i'd look long and hard at the shocks as well. i only have aftermarket shocks on the rear, but i was surprised at how worn out the stockers were at 40K miles. once compressed, they wouldn't rebound. the 5100's made a big difference in the feel of the truck in the rear. can't wait to see what the fronts will do. maybe swapping to the 5100's instead of the AS will help?

If you run too high of a PSI or fill it to is max pressure... your ride will be like garbage and you'll be wearing the tires more.

However, you will be sacraficing fuel mileage if drop the PSI. But you'll get a much better ride.

Since it's a truck, and a 4x4... I would care how the ride is.

I might have to try this too. My truck was smooth as glass when I took the wheel/tires off for the winter. I put them back on recently and decided to rotate them when I put them back on and ever since I've had a vibration. I've had them balance twice, still no dice. At least I got the life time balancing when I bought the wheels. I'm going to give discount tire 1 more try to get it right then I'll have to start trying something else.

I ran into this on my old rims. Roush replaced them with a newer set that were concentric. It helped a bunch, but they still bounced and vibrated. As soon as I replaced the Badyears with Toyos, the truck rides as smooth as a Town Car.

Almost every rim has a little problem mounting up centered, even stock ones. Rotate the tire instead of the ratchet and that forces the lug nuts to seat right. I do this technique every time my tires are balanced/rotated and they get even smoother. :thumbsup:

Hey guys...thanks for the replies. I havent had time to work on it but heres some imput

When i have stock tires/wheels on it rides just fine...
I'm planning on getting a 6inch lift soon...i'll check out the suspension though.
I have mazzi hulks and i think i have a wheel out on round. The center cap doesnt want to snap in flush like the other three. What can be done about this? thanks I also have to get my other hub looked at..making the sound again.
