So I had another thought. Anyone know how the A/C really functions? I am wondering if there is a way to bypass the clusters control of the A/C functions. I know it probably isn't as simple as running a wire from the switched output on the AA/C switch to the compressor, but does anyone think this is possible? It's irritating that everything on this cluster works but the A/C and it will cost me $180 to get the air working.

Call back, ask for the Service Manager, tell him you have called in and been told 2 different quotes and ask him which one it is going to be so you know what you are going to pay for sure in the end.

A/C wiring

I actually did rewire the A/C control circuit as a temporary fix until
I could convince the tech at the dealership that it the cluster could
be reprogrammed. That was (3 1/2) years ago. At that time the cluster
swap was still a fairly new mod. The cluster programming is a straight
forward affair. The tech can obtain the "as built" data from the Ford
data base. If you search, the actual procedure was posted.
I wouldn't recommend doing the wiring thing, because it is a pain in the
****. It took buying several relays and rebuying more relays that work with
a very small electrical signal. "Trial and ERROR".
Advice, just get it reprogrammed!
