3v plugs changed with Champions

I posted this up in an on going thread in the engine sections but I know that some people do venture in there so I thought I would share it down here as well.

Well I have bad news and good news.

Bad news is that the dealer broke 3 of the plugs. They were able to get them out using the rotunda tool though. I was kind of surprised that they broke, truck being an 05 with 35k miles and pretty much only used Shell gas. Although a lot of the miles are from my short 12 mile stop and go trips to and from work. But at least the dealer stood by their word that if any did break they would not charge me anything extra.

Now on to the Champions. The dealer thought I was nuts for wanting to install them but they did say that "if" is helps solve this problem they don't blame me for trying. So far I've only put about 25 miles on them, about 12 miles on the stock tune and the rest with Troyer 92 oct perf tune. So far the truck runs Exactly the same as before. The only spark knock that I have is after I loaded the custom tunes and is very very minimal and only at hight RPMs and nearly WOT. I also had this same spark knock the first time I loaded the tunes several months ago. This should go away once I get a few drive cycles on the tunes.

So really if I didn't know they were changed I would have no idea anything is different. We'll have to see what happens as the mileage increases. So far I give them a big

Someones got try something new and since my dealer said as long as I was under warranty there would be no additional charge if any broke, my warranty is up in 1000 miles. They only charged $136+tax to do the change, which is not bad since 3 broke.

About 75 miles and all is well. I actually think that it is running better than before, seems to take less gas to get going. Could be my imagination but it seems better.

Your knock could be your injectors. Ford does not include screens in there injectors anymore and you may have a clogged injector causing a lean condition when you install your troyer tunes.

I had this issue when I did my Roush SC install and didnt think twice about it until I lost a cylinder on a cold night back in december. I would possibly have the injectors serviced and then replace your fuel filter.
