Hopefully that link works.

I wanted an FX4, mainly for looks (I don't care about the skid plates), but I never seem to find a good one nearby. I figure if I can get this one for around 20k then its worth it, and I can change the few things to make it look better. They would be things I would change on the FX4 anyway, except for the bumpers will have to go. On the plus side I get climate control and heated leather. There is a 2005 FX4 with 19k miles for 24,9K for sale but it has a 6" lift and the owner is gone for a few days. Any suggestions aside from "whatever makes you happy?"

Also, what would you consider good bargaining tactics? I figure its either one of two things. You tell them what you will spend and take it or leave it, or you act like you don't really want/need that particular car and let them feel like they suckered you into buying it.

Personally, i would never buy a used lifted vehicle. People usually lift a truck with intensions to use/abuse it. I'd find a stock one that you know is well maintained with decently low miles, and then modify it to your personal likings. You can often find them cheaper then lifted ones too.

That is a nice looking 05, but you could probably find a lower price for a similar one.

Hi guys, I'm new here. I'm trying to get the hang of things. I must have gotten a steal. I bought a 2004 F150 FX4 with a 6" lift and a bunch of custom extras on ebay last week for $20k. I don't even know what I have, but it's really sharp. I just need to figure out how to post a pic. I was going to add a new post when I figure out how with multiple pics.

I use to think that way too, but, over the last several years, the majority of the people I've met with lifted trucks do so for visual appeal.

Dunno...

Agreed. Mainly people do it nowadays for looks. I bought my truck with the lift and have had no problems.

Thanks for the response, BTW the truck has to be black. I'll go and see what kind of deal I can get.

Didnt your have some problems with your electrical system? maybe because water/mud got into it? Not saying thats what caused it though...

Many do lift for appearance, its still not worth the risk of getting a truck that has been beaten to hell...

plus by doing it yourself, you can get the exact look for your personal tastes.

My mom always bought trucks for my dad, just because she could always "play" them alot better than he could. She always told me that you when you go in have a price in your head that you are willing to pay. Haggle with them. When they finaly say they cant come any lower than "said amount" then say thanks and walk out. If they let you leave then you know that is as low as they really could go. You can always go back and tell them that you are willing to pay the last amount they offered. She did that several times, and got a call a day or two later with the salesmen telling her if she will come in that day they will give her the price she wanted. Someone on here told me a while back that waiting is only going to help you with these trucks. Gas is only going up and these things not are flying off the lots, so there price is only going down.

It may just be me, but that truck does not look like it has a 6" lift.

$24000 is way too much for an 05 with 40k on the odo.

I disagree, it seems to be in the correct price range.

Maybe everyone else is hittin the bottle a little too hard. That truck should be 21-22 tops. Here, my truck was only worth 17-18 before i got rid of it. It was a scab XLT with 48k on the odo.

Regional differences are a big factor.

Trucks in TX are like hookers in Vegas. They're all over the place and nobody wants to buy them once they've been used a good deal.
