I'm sure its been asked 1000 times before

Take a stock truck. Add the following:

custom tuner
AF1 3.5" intake(or similiar)
aftermarket exhaust/headers/cats/etc
3.73
285/70/17 tires
sea level

What would a truck be putting at the tires? I know its a hypothetical question, but..

Would an increase of 45+ hp/tq over a base dyno be a reasonable guess? More? Less?

MercedesTech Feb 28, 2008 05:09 PM

I would *guess* you could squeeze bit more out of those mods. Working with someone like Troyer Performance or VMP tuning would net you some very decent results.

Go with Long Tube headers, high flows cats and your 45HP should be gained right there. (roughly) I have heard some huge gains with similiar exhaust mods.

Check in the [ Chips, Tuners, Programmers] section of the site. The guys there would know a whole lot better then I (I have some custom tuning done, but haven't gotten all the mods just yet)

Bartak1 Feb 28, 2008 05:51 PM

260-270ish probably.

Super FX4 Feb 28, 2008 05:52 PM

I would say around 40-50rwhp increase over stock

Since I am new to the Cali smog BS, would getting LT's, hiflow cats, etc. cause smog check problems?

MercedesTech Feb 28, 2008 06:49 PM

well that gets tricky.

SHort answer: yes, they are illegal.

Some people.... have buddies who are willing to "over look" the LT's and what not. I can play with my settings to get it to get it to pass the emmision test. I was talking to a couple guys on here, and they agree as long as I can get my 02's in there factory spots (roughly) I would be good to go.

**** edit: check this thread out. Its a good one for us Commiefornia suckers !

Just go get your truck smogged then get your longtubes and high flows, since you wont need to smog again for another 4-5 years. Worry about it down the road. That's what im gonna do when i put my high-flows on this summer.

 How close to positive is that?

I would LOVE to see a before and after dyno sheet that shows a 40rwhp gain. :coffee:

If you got 20-25rwhp I would be impressed. Of course peak HP is not everything , it is how it effects the bower band across the rpm range.
