My signal mirror mod (aka probably the coolest thing I've ever built)
 

The idea for this mod started a while back. I had plain power mirrors, no signal or puddle and wanted to add them with leds. I remember reading somewhere in the forums where someone wished their OEM turn signal mirrors did a chaser sequence like a cylon. Sounded like a great idea, why shouldn't they? So I proceeded to build my own. Each mirror has 5 amber leds, a led sequencer I bought off ebay, a 5v voltage regulator, and 2 white superflux leds from oznium for puddle lights. A big part of this mod is the sequencer, I looked at making my own or buying a pre-made one. I eventually settled on a pre-made one with different sequences and speeds, guessing I would be able to find one where the speed matched what I needed. The turn signal circuit is pulsed and I would need the sequencer to light my five leds before the flasher killed the circuit and started the sequence all over again. Another big challenge was drilling the holes for the leds. I wanted to angle them so the light was focused on the blind spot area, not back into the driver's eyes. I measured my angles and made a small wooden jig to get my drill angle right. I bought a couple old mirrors off another forum member and practiced on them - good thing I did! It was a pain. Other than that it was just a bunch of time soldering leds and such. All in all, I love it! Here are the pics, and a couple videos of everything in action..

you could theoretically wire it with relays or transistors that would give continous feed to squencer when the switch is in the blinker position

awesome! i saw your post on the other thread and meant to ask you, how did you get the front cover off? i have tried getting mine off and i feel like im going to break it every time. I know it has screws, do you have to get the glass off?

sweet mod. Hows the brightness from say 20-40 feet back, where a car behind you might be

the blinker don't seem bright enough...guess it's something you need to see in person...a very cool idea...didn't Josiah or Thumper do something similar to the front edge so oncoming cars could see?

a few questions about your floods
1. what are they actuated from? the door switch?
2. how bright are they? I'm thinkin another LED would really brighten that area up.
