can I take em?

Brothernlaw just bought an 08 chevy crewcab with the 5.3L with the 20's I believe it has 315hp. I have an 04 FX4 300 hp with a k&n air intake, exhaust and superchip sittin on 35's. We all know i can take in any offroad situation but what about on the street; can I take him?? This is all just for fun btw, we like messin with each other!

Had a 06 1500 Z71 Crew Cab 5.3 with programer and 33" BFG M/Ts with 3.42 gears, on the 87 tune I would slowly creep away from my buddies Crew Cab 5.5 foot bed F-150 4x4 w/ factory 20s and stock sized tires, he's got 3.73s. With a dyno tune I would slowly walk him, at no time were we even I was always slightly faster. Off the line to 25 or 30 mph he had me but after that is when the GM motors start really pulling. Another co worker had a Vortec Max with 33s and 4.10s with a dyno tune, he'd spany hemis like they were going out of style unless they were really modded. Heck, I ran 16.8s with the chevy and traped a 87 mph at worst (notice the upper end kicking in). your best chance is a dig. On the highway it will be murder for you. What gears does he run?

Is he 4wd? It's going to be close, wish you had a different programmer but it should not be murder no matter which way you look at it. What kind of 35's are you on? That's going to change things as well, if they're an aggressive MT they are going to weigh a lot more than a typical AT 35.

Don't ask us...any answer we give you has a 50/50 chance about being right (without even an inkling of knowledge about engines) Race him, and post the results.

You can take him anywhere, you have a truck. But be careful, he can take you too, he has a truck now as well.

My wife has an 05 Tahoe and I have a 05 screw 5.4 3.73`s. Her truck will take my F150 at any time. I would like to race her truck with the 93 Troyer tune just to see what would happen.

Yea, they are aggresive Hankook MT tires which I cant wait to get rid of, in favor of some aggressive AT's.

I had an 03 Z71 and always felt it could be a ford, being my dad has one, but I just found out he had the smaller v8, I guess which is why I thought it was always underpowered.

The GM trucks are a lot lighter, hence, yes, they are faster!.......Trust me I drove one 2008 5.3 Z-71......It felt like a car compared to my way more Truck, Man sized F-150!........

If you're really worried about 0-60, buy an M3 or a Corvette... Kids always try to race me for some reason (college town), I just let them blow past and then the ole lady and I have a nice laugh at how silly they are...

That being said, I kicked my girlfriend's Yukon's ***... when she didn't know we were racing. She's got the 5.3 and I think it weighs more than the Silverado, so as long as your brother in law doesn't know you're racing, you'll beat him by a mile.

Really? Interesting. When my truck was stock with 3.55 gears and just an exhaust I raced my buddies '01 Tahoe with just an exhaust and my truck would barely pull his everytime. We used to race a lot.

Those figures are at the wheels. 353hp/373tq at the crank is the official GM rating, IIRC.
