Good luck with the tests impact...you will have to take the technician and general at the same time in order to get the general (plus that saves paying $14 twice). A lot of folks do it that way I am told, I simply didn't feel like it.

When i took my test for tech a few months ago the way it was if u passed the tech u took the general for free. If u passed the general then u took the next level for free. So if u studied u could go take your tech and if u ended up passing all of them u could walk away with a Extra Class License all for just the original 14 dollars.

Plus since your a comm troop Impact9 should be perty easy for u. There is a lot of community involvement with HAM so theres some EPR bullets for you.

You can probally get you swr to a 1:1 by going into avery open area like a field.

Oh yeah I know that, I would just do it in the driveway and really carefully tune the stick for channel 20.

I don't think so. Your tuner is not reading right.

I will double check all measurements in a couple weeks maybe I did something wrong? It is the tuner that comes with the CB. It has excellent range and works well so it must be close anyways

I have mine in between my seat and the center console. I just have the cheap walmart CB because I rarely use it. Most of the time my antenna is taken down and under my rear seat. When I need it I simply unwrap my magnet mount from under my driver seat, pull out the antenna and put it on the roof. I olny use it when me and my buddies go off roading, or during the hurricanes. lol. For what I use it for the $35 walmart CB works fine. Although there is a really cool cobra CB that is bluetooth and black...I just dont know where to put it...

The best position is on the dash .I'm installing my HAM radio control head , 706, by making a bracket that bolts to the tray on my '09 .The bracket brings the radio toward me .In this way it's easily reached and I still have the road in view when working the buttons. If it were on the floor I would have to look down and take my eyes off the road.
BTW there is no longer any Morse code requirement for a HAM license so the basic license is easy to get.
The antenna requirements for the 2meter band and 440 Mhz is simple to install .Best is to drill a hole in the roof. The HF bands are more complex .For the best source of info for mobile HAM radio is www.k0bg.com

CB unique mount

Here is what I did. I purchased a race radio (aka ham radio) with a detachable face. The face was mounted under the dash and the base unit in the center console.
