Should I or shoudnt I??? Upgrade or Not?

Well...Ive got the itch to buy a 4wd truck. Im not too sure what I should do. My original thought was to wait it out and get the 09 F150 4wd Platinum. But after coming back from the desert this weekend I realized how much of a dog my truck is when towing. So I recently called on an 08 F250 Lariat 4wd. It retails for a little over 51g's and with my UPS discount and incentives I could get it for 40ish....Im lost here...any input would be awesome.

damn thats a tough choice it would be nice to have the bigger truck, more power and all. if it were me i would wait for the new F150 platinum, you will have a new original truck that not every one and thier mother has. add some motor mods, gears and hell maybe a supercharger you will tow just fine! lol

also how much do you really tow??? do you really need the 250? and is the 250 a deisel?

Don't get me wrong, i love the new F-150's, but the SD's are freakin beasts. Besides, a 6" lift fully clears 37's on the SD.

Thats it right there, do you use it enough for towing to justify a F250? What are you towing that you need a F250?

This is the same boat that I am in right now, I found a F350 4X4, SC, long box, 7.3L with 72000 miles. I want the truck badly as I have been looking for a low mileage 7.3L. But this past summer I didn't really have to tow much with my 04, atleast not much over 8000lbs mostly in the 7000lb range, so I can't really justify buying the Super Duty. The F350 atleast for me is more of a want, than a need, at this time. But in most of 06 when I was towing around 10000lbs almost every week I would have bought the truck ina heartbeat.

If towing is an issue then it is an easy choice to get the SD. An 09 150 will probably pull the same. How much weight you pullin?

A 4in will clear 37 on a 08 SD....at least I hope so!

(Nah, I know they will.)

I got these coming for mine!

I wouldn't do it. Having just bought an 07 a year ago I kinda wish I didn't have the payments. If I was you I would regear your current truck, buy a new Katskin interior, buy a tuner, or do something else that will make your truck new to you again. That way your only down a grand or so and you don't have huge truck payments for the next 6 years.

The 09 will not solve your towing problem, it's got the same motor. The diesel apparently won't be out for some time. Go for the SD, it's an amazing looking truck and the interior is much better than the new F-150 :tear:

Thanks...they are 22x10 XD 778 with 37x13.50x22s Toyo Open Country M/Ts.

I really wanted to go with a set of 24s but I got a hell of a deal on these ($2000 shipped!) so thats the route I am going. I want to go with as little lift as possible to clear them...so a 4in is what I am shooting for. I will probably waite until after August to do the lift and put them on though....I am going to be towing my car to the Trans Am Nats in Dayton, Ohio....1400 miles round trip.
