Outside Temp Sensor

Hey Everyone,

Just wondering how does the sensor for the outside temperature work? I mean I am in Northern Ontario and my sensor is always giving the proper temp. You think with the wind and everything blowing across the front of the truck it would always give you alower reading then what temperature was.

Anyone have any ideas for me?

Personally, I don't think they're very accurate. I've had a few instances when I've had a chance to compare them to other sources and the truck's outside temp display has been off.... sometimes by quite a few digits.

Just my opinion.

I do not think wind has no effect on the temperature. If it is 30 degress with 100 mile an hour wind it is still 30 degrees. The wind takes the heat away from you when it hits you so they designed the wind chill chart.

Mine has been extreemely accurate, from confirmation of radio weather reports, to Bank Sighn Thermometers............

mikelmco, thats actually makes alot of sense know that I think about it. Dont know why it never clued into me before. Thanks

Mine has also always been very accurate, often even better then the radio stations. We have a digital outdoor thermometer by the door to our house and I always have the same reading on that and my truck. I honestly think I would really miss it now if I didnt have it on my truck.

Little off on temp

Mine always seems to be 1 - 4 degrees warmer than it should be.

Thinking the engine warms it up maybe.

mine is accurate, and the above poster is correct about the temp is what it is, it does not measure wind chill.

When idling the engine can throw off the temperature a little bit. Once I'm moving the temperature stabilizes within a few minutes and has always been very close or dead on to outside sources (banks, etc..)

Where is the sensor located?
Are they easy to replace and how much are they?
