New to this site, but found this post very interesting.
I own a 2007 F150 SuperCab STX 4x4. As a previous owner of Ford Trucks with the 4.6 engine, I thought this was the smoothest running truck of the bunch. Then I took it to the dealer to get the 3K mile free service. Now the truck has a rough idle and I can hear it sucking air when I smash the pedal. I can't find any leaks, anywhere. It may be going back to the dealer.

At first I bumped the idle up by 100... that improved things but it was still a tiny bit rough. So last night I bumped it to 150 and now its smooth. I might burn a bit more gas at stoplights, but I think its worth it to have it running smooth. Plus I have to think the rough idle will reduce engine life in the long run?

04 4.6L 2wd rough idle. Been that way since I got the truck with 40k on it.

14-16 mpg. Depending on how many highway miles I can get

Volant CAI

Driving style. Would give it a 3. I am not in a hurry to get anywhere. Have an R-1 for that.

I was a little concerned about using more fuel while stationary too. But to be honest I haven't noticed any decrease in fuel economy. And (it may be just me) it seems to hesitate less when launching from a stop. Glad you got it worked out. This programmer is worth its weight in gold.

I tried the bumping the rpm trick with my edge and it didn't work, if anything it made it more noticable. The dealer claims this is normal.
