Biggest tire on OEM 20's with stock suspension 4x4... no leveling kit.

I have a stock 4x4 07 F150, I want to get more of a aggressive look. I drive 95% on highway/paved roads. I'm moving to Denver and plan on doing some off roading and fun in the snow, but don't want the load highway noise. I'm guessing 33's will do, but want to see pictures and any opinions between MT and AT tires. Love the look of 35 MT's with leveling kit, but I have a 4.6L and don't want the ball joint, and tie rod problems down the road. Also my engine would be more of a dog with 35's. Thanks for the help and pics!

i have the same truck and im running 285/70/17 (33x11.5x17) goodyear wrangler silent armors and they kick ass. i live in minnesota and i havent put it in 4x4 all winter. they tires just grip to snow and wont let up. i also just took them across country to maryland and they held up great. here are some pics of my truck with the 33s. i do run a leveling kit but i think you might be able to pull it off with out one

there was a guy running 33's Toyo muds on his stock rims with no leveling kit, it looked pretty stuffed. if noise is an issue, head for an all terrain tire. guy i know just got 285/55/20 BFG AT's put on his black lariat, :rocker: looks awesome and is still 100% stock except for the tires. why do you go with the bilstein 5100's set at the 2" lift position and get some 33's A/T's. that would look sweet. the bilsteins are supposed to wear your bj's and stuff so bad. and your truck wouldnt look so ass-high either.

Yes pics please!

MGP32 that exhaust sounds real good, how much did it run you?

NO LONGER JEEPIN thanks for the info, My Pirelli's in 2 wheel drive won't even make it over the lip if it's icy/snow in my driveway to get into garage if I don't kick in the 4 wheel drive!

with a 2" leveling kit you can squeeze 35's  and then just get a tuner

Your truck is the one that's killin me!! I don't want to go with 35's but yours look soooo damn good!! I want both your tires and bull bar. I have just heard that the 35's rub and the leveling kit down the road cause repairs overwise are not needed. What have you experienced??

K1NGoftheRanch Dec 30, 2007 03:59 PM

well yes it gives a more severe angle to the cvs and balljoints...i went with the 2" so it wasnt as extreme as the 2.5"...runs smooth and so far no problems...as far as the tires...awesome looking and im so glad i didnt go with 33's...i get at least 1 compliment a day since i got them...rubbing yes they do rub the control arm at full lock and near full lock....since ive had them they have only rubbed about 3 times when making a sharp turn into my driveway or a parking space...well worth it imho. i asked my mechanic and he said it shouldn't hurt anything since the tires are rubber and are pliable and plus its not like you turn into a parking spot at 30 mph so no big deal. just have to pay attention a little bit more but i love them

This picture scares me but I'm like you I think the look is worth a little risk, now how is the ride? Is it much louder at highway speeds? The only thing left is the cost, man they are soooo much $$$$$$$

K1NGoftheRanch Dec 30, 2007 04:14 PM

well there is actually an 1/8" clearance between the tire and the "ball" of the control arm...which is pretty much always maintained until it is turned to much....highway speeds not that loud at all...im very pleased with them.....yes they are very expensive...i bought them from unsertire.com free shipping

i'll try to get some pics, i dont see it often. (working at night sucks) the only thing is i think the 35's would kill your mileage and it would be gutless. i'd stick with 33's like Pimprohr did.

K1NGoftheRanch Dec 30, 2007 07:21 PM

i only lost about 1mpg with my 35s

but hes got the 4.6 like myself, and i lost 2ish city mpg just from going from the oem 17s to the 20s.... with heavier tires i have a feeling he would loose alittle more than you did....

K1NGoftheRanch Dec 30, 2007 10:28 PM

ohhh i forgot he had a 4.6 i guess more mpg loss is possible
