i took my truck into the dealer today for some service and told them about the fuel injector letter. keep in mind my friend owns this particular ford dealer. i was told by the serviceman(who is a friend and would sneak anything past ford for me that he could) that they cannot check the injectors and basically you have to wait until they give out or get stuck and ruin your motor before ford will pay them to fix it! anyone else have this happen? i was getting a long start, as if it was flooded, every once and a while. they said could be the edge programmer. they found 1 code and cleared it out. if i take the edge off the truck is a dog. it just might be time to let the ford go... what am i supossed to do wait for it to break?

I too was wondering about this. Go to a diff dealer? Mine is hesitant to start sometimes too. Kind of blew it off until the injector letter came in the mail.

 

the reason i dont go to another dealer is because my friend owns it. so he would do anything he could. and he basically said his hands are tied until the injectors break or damage the motor. which i might add they want to happen because then ford will pay them to fix it!

 

That's precisely how it's explained in the letter. When the injector fails they will fix it under warranty, on 2005 models anyway.

Hey, folks at the dealerships need a laugh too.

 

your dealer can perform an injector leak down test to check for stuck open injectors. but if you did have one stuck open you would have more problems then just a hard start. you would also be misfiring and be running very rich on that bank and set a check engine light also. sometimes the engine even hydrolocks. if your truck runs fine you probably dont have an injector problem...
