4.6 in the 2008's?

I was browsing my local dealers website checking out the new supercrew XL which has the 4.6 as the only option. I then wanted to compare prices with the XLT supercrew to see how much more I needed to spend wo get the 5.4 and realized that many of the XLT trucks also had the 4.6. When I bought my supercab I don't remember seeing any 4.6's and thought that they didn't even build them in the XLT with towing package. Anyways, I really like the supercrew's room and ease of accessing the rear of the truck, but I don't know if I am ok with the 4.6. Do you guys think I will not be satisfied with the smaller engine, or is it worth the sacrifice for the rear doors and extra room? I couldn't afford the supercrew when I bought my supercab, but now that they offer the supercrew in an XL with power locks, it is cheaper than my supercab was new. I don't know if this is worth considering.

The 4.6 is not a bad motor. Yeah the 5.4 is quicker but the 4.6 does the job just fine. I have a XLT, 4x4, w 3.55's & 20's woth 33" tires and I am satisfied with the performance. Yeah I want a tuner, but I can still light them up from a light, power brake and keep up with traffic even when towing 6k. Take the room and get the 4.6 then just get a tuner to add a bit of snap

I have the 4.6 with the tow package in my 04 supecab. I have towed a 12 ft. tandem trailer with dirt bikes and quads with no problems.

my 07 screw has the 5.4 the power is ok nothing spectacular, i couldnt imagine having a 4.6 in it with 50 less horse. i wish i had another 50 horse with my 5.4:D

Yeah I'm glad i didnt test drive the 5.4 bc i probally would have went with it but the 4.6l works for me with no problem.

I think I will at least test drive the 4.6. I need to find out what my truck is really worth anyways. If I drive it and don't like it, it wont matter what it's worth anyways and vica versa, if my truck isn't worth enough, I won't be able to afford the other truck even though it stickers for less. I'll follow up with this.

having the 4.6 scab if i had to choose between getting a screw or 5.4 i would take the screw every single time. always wish i had that extra room and the full 4 doors

I just traded my '05 for a '08, both 4.6s and I have to say the '08 has more spunk than the '05 did...think the differences made on the intake manifold helped

i dont know if you ever plan on lifting it, i planned to when i bought mine so thats why i had to get the 5.4, its not necessary but i dont wanna overwork the motor when hauling or towing. my buddy has a 4.6 w/ 150k on the ticker and he only complains when towing his fiberglass boat. if you dont need the extra power the extra 1mpg will add up over time.
