Harley pedals. WTF?

I was interested in the Harley pedals until I saw the price. $134, no f'ing way. why do you have to buy the whole gas pedal assembly when the pedal clearly bolts to the arm? If it's riveted or something, i'm sure you could figure out a way to attach it with some creativity. hopefully this pic shows up. if not, click the ebay link and look at the pic of the backside of the pedal.

That sounds about right. Aren't all Harley products overpriced?

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

The auction says it's for the "Pad Set" so it looks like you are right.

OK? What is the big deal?

You cannot even buy the accelerator pedal pad seperately.

That really doesn't sound too bad for everything that you are getting. Ford sells the accelerator pad and sensor as an assembled unit, you can't get it any other way. I paid like $60 for my harley pedals used, so the price that you show isn't bad for new ones. My pedals also came with the power adjustment motors, cables and mechanisms that came out of the donor truck, but I didn't use any of that stuff (I kept them as spares in case mine ever goes bad).

I suspect Ford "overprices" a lot of stuff like that simply to keep every "boy racer" from going out and building his own "boutique version" of the truck. This helps keep at least a certain amount of exclusivity to the special edition models.

point is, why do i have to buy the sensor or whatever it is when all i want it the pad? my sensor is fine, i just want the pad. so to get them i have to pay five times what the pads themselves should cost.

Yup. Ford isn't an accessory outlet. But 'we' the enthusiasts try to piece together certain parts (from ford) to 'complete' our own vehicle to our liking.

Pay to Play or go home.

sell the assembly after you buy the set if it really bothers you to have a spare part. if you sell it for 50 bucks, then you just paid 75/80 for brand new pedals

and yes you can buy a rivet gun and put in some 1/8" rivets or w.e size they are... Just be careful drilling out the rivets

Your paying that because the seller is selling them that way and doesn't want to separate them. Sure the seller is a dealer, but that doesn't make them Ford. Wait till someone is selling just the pads and then buy that. Would you be upset if you only wanted the brake pad and someone was only selling all the pads as a set? It's ebay, buy, talk to the seller or move on and buy when what you want is available.
