who's hauled the most

put 2,000 lbs in the bed of my 04 4.6L 4x4 last week. couldn't have been more impressed with how it rode and handled, especially considering i lowered the rear 2 inches with shackles. i've hauled 1,200 to 1,500 lbs several times before but this time a total of 40 bags of wheat for the farm at 50 lbs each.

as for the 4.6....let's just say i'm glad it's flat around here, but i got the job done. the part i'm bragging on is minimal body roll, no creaking and groaning, good steering and braking response.

anybody hauled (not towed) more?

I dont know how much it wieghed, but I had 46 treated 2by10by10s in the back and it pulled great, but I have the 5.4 and I do have hills(Western PA). I was also very impressed with the lack of noise and good handeling. Ive been loaded down with hay on the wagon and in the bed and was very happy. Lets face it 4.6 or 5.4 Ford rules the world.

well the first month i owned mine i put well over 20 sheets of drywall in the bed as a starter to see how it would drive and it did that fine, that winter i put a full load of firewood in it, and i mean full from end to end over the cab so it had to be over 2000 lbs and i couldnt tell it was there... i didnt fell a rough ride or anything.. my ex's dads silverado had about the same amount of weight in it along with some overload shocks and his truck squated more and could bearly pull it...

I have towed a 3,000 car haluer, and a 96 thunderbird (4000 ish) from Cheyenne, Wy over the cont. devide and Vail pass to Grand Junction Co. and got about 13 mpg..I loved the power and the way it handled the weight..Love my new truck.
