What is this?!

Ok... I've been sort of gone for 2 days... sort of... I had my laptop with me, and I still visited. (I know, I'm addicted, lol). So anyhow, I was riding around in a E-450 Van/Bus, and I happened to notice this awesome device that showed the RPMS, DTCs, and a whole host of other features...

It looks like it was directly installed by Ford... as it bears the Ford logo on it.

So I snapped a shot of it... it's not a very good shot, as I thought I was close enough... but it's all I got.

Also, the E-450 had a diesel engine... if that helps any... but it was cool watching when the driver drove...

All of our company trucks have that. Basically what it does is with a Diesel when you set your parking brake it idles up the truck to an RPM of your setting. Very nice to have. Handy for boosting vehicles too, no need to hold the vehicle idled up, it does it all on its own.

Trucks that have hydraulic pumps hooked to the PTO also use them to keep up engine speeds. Like the drill unit on this truck
