F250 back to an F150
OK so I went to see that 04 F150... It was a lariat, nice. The leather is REALLY light in color which wasnt a big deal. Had a grill gaurd I didn't care for. Crunched all the numbers and got the price where I wanted but have to think about it over the weekend.
My F250 gets 13 city and 17 hwy. It has 44K miles on it. My wife hates the idea of trading it in to save 120 bucks a month... She says we blow that in a night out on the town... lol
All that being said, I am still not sure what we are gonna do!
Thanks for all the help!

I am hopefully going the other way and getting the V10 250.My truck is for sale on craigslist 2004 FX4 19000 miles $23000 and has been pampered like you wouldn't believe. What are you getting for the 250?
Jon, I hear you about the diesel costs... it just ain't worth it like it used to be.
A friend of mine has had a '98 F-350 Diesel with the 7.3l... excellent truck... a bit beat up... but it's a great truck. It's been paid off for quite a long time now... but he said he wouldn't buy another one because the maintainance costs are just way too much. Not to mention diesel is more expensive by 10 cents beyond 93/94 octane gas. It's got like 340k on it... but it runs like a champ.
He's looking to get a F-350 with the v10... but he might just wait until this one he's got self-destructs itself.
I was seriously considering the diesel... in a F250... but I couldn't justify the following:
1. Price.
2. Upkeep.
3. Cost of Fuel.
4. Cold Winter Starts Without Engine Heater.
Those are the primary reasons why I couldn't justify one. However, I'd love the power. But to give up all that on power? Blah... I could live with a v10... but I'd figure stick with a 1/2 tonner and beat that to the grave.

Being retired and all, my parents do not get out too often, but they drive it even less now because of the diesel prices and a fixed income. He bought the truck to haul around a slide in camper, and that's about the only thing they drive it for now. He will not get rid of it for anything, but just uses it less. I think that 90% of the time we all end up on the short end of the stick if we try to play the fuel/maintainance cost vs. newer vehicle. The fuel savings on a new vehicle (or new to you vehicle) almost never pay for itself in the short-term and sometimes in the long term. Besides, I doubt that any 150 will get stellar mileage compared to a superduty.

) F150... the worst I did was say I had a '90 F150 with the 4.2l v6... now that's an interesting truck. I might as well star in Back To The Future!
LOL I am at work, but I will post some pics later. You may be able to search the F250 forums. Should be there...
Yeah I never could save up the money for the F150 Ranch Hands, heck I traded the truck 3months after putting 900.00 of Nittos on there... lol

Don't get too hasty. I have been doing high-mileage yearly trades for a LOOOOONG time, and although most of them are diesel F-250's, I have mixed in a couple of F-150's. I am considering going back to an F-150 next time, as well. But, to think you're saving big in the fuel department going with an F-150 is NOT the best reason. You will most likely break even between the two - regardless of the difference in fuel costs. I have logged every fill-up in most of my trucks since early 2000, and with the supposed better fuel economy of a diesel, you will still not make out that much better. This isn't one year of testing and 50,000 miles - it's more like closer to 480,000 miles in 9 years.
I just like a better ride of an F-150, but I now that have a 6,000# trailer, I can't get it through my head that an F-150 would be that great of a tow with it 12 times a year. After this weekend in the wind and hills, I think I'd kick myself hard going back to an F-150.

I actually like the ride and comfort of my F250 over my old F150 and the one I recently test drove... Err... Or is it the diesel sound??!?
We have other financial obstacles far more important than my truck right now. I think we are going to take care of the other obstacles and re-eval the truck situation afterwards. We both love the F250.
