Check out the reliability ratings of ALL AUTO MANUFACTURERS and compare their first model year vs. the last model year. Even Toyota's are suffering with their new Tundra's, Camry's, and Lexus ES350's.

I'll let the young and impulsive be the beta-testers.
my 04 was one of the first off the assembly line, and its been mostly problem free.

maybe i just got lucky.

Are these trucks gonna be able to haul more in the bed? Are the leafsprings gonna be stiffer? More heavy duty chassis? Straight Axle? I mean a diesel sounds good and all but I can't really see the point of it in a 1/2 ton. And I'm talking about for work.

IMO, just get a reg or supercab SD Dually, probably be cheaper to.

I don't see what ford is trying to do, besides fuel wise. There SD's are true work tested animals......... why fix what's not broken?

And i'm more then sure there gonna be expensive as hell.

I'm trading an '03 F150 that currently has 75K miles on nothing but gravel and dirt roads. It's held up okay, but definately will not last in that environment any longer.

As for the superduty, it won't fit in my garage at work, so that won't happen.

As for the diesel being the first year, that is not the case. The engine has been used in several vehicles for years. I don't remember the details as far as what vehicle and what country it has been used in, but I'll go ahead and play test mule.

X2. Let 'em work out the kinks for a year or two and then go for it.

Final major change in the engine lineup will come with the launch of the 2010 model year of the truck in the summer of 2009. A new 4.4l V8 diesel engine and a TwinForce 3.5l V6 will be added, and, as mentioned above, the 4.6l V8 will probably be dropped. The diesel is a larger version of the 3.6l Lion V8 diesel Ford developed with France’s Peugeot/Citroen (PSA) automaker, and will deliver around 315hp and 520ft.lbs of torque. The Twin Force engine will be positioned as a V8 alternative with better fuel economy. Using twin turbochargers, direct injection, and twin independent camshaft timing, the engine will deliver about 400hp and 400ft.lbs of torque at 1500rpms.

It is unfortunate Ford will not launch the truck with the full engine lineup, and it will likely hurt the sales some; but with the rapid rollout of the remaining engines the damage should be minor. Moreover, Ford has a final ace up its sleeve; in the 2011 or 2012 model year, Ford will add a monster of an engine: a TwinForce version of the 6.2l V8 – delivering more than 650ft.lbs of torque and around 500hp. The new engine will deliver performance equal to, say, a Chrysler SRT-10, but with a smaller engine and better fuel efficiency. Like with the 2008 Super Duty, Ford is not playing around with the truck and aiming squarely for the “class leading” designation. We will see the truck at Detroit Auto show in January, and Job1 is on August 8th, 2008.
Awesome if all this is true then I will be buying a new truck once I get my Vette paid off

Turbo Diesel in F150 = better MPG then the current 5.4 and much more torque for towing power and simple passing power. My current truck is a dog off the line at least it is at 5280 ft. Not to mention a turbo to help level the playign field would be awesome

even if it were between 400-450 lbft, it would rock in the mileage dept, since you'd drop 3000lbs, and have plenty more tq than the 5.4 and lower in the rpms.
