headlights? i want to do it to clean up the front end but dont want to have at it without knowing what im getting into. thanks

i havnt done it but read many threads about it first stick a screwdriver in the bulb hole to pop the amber lens off but it will still be inside the housing so youll need some long needle nose's and various screwdrivers to break the amber lens up into small enough pices to pull out the hole

thats it but you might end up scratching the housing a bit

is it just glued in place? im just worried if its gonna leave a glueish residue where it used to be or something?...and thanks for the info

it just snaps in and out of place. after you take it out are you just going to leave the bulb showing. you could use the easy bake method and paint the lens some other color.

yeah im just gonna put stealth bulbs in the side...

K1NGoftheRanch Oct 2, 2007 10:11 PM

actually im still torn between cc modding mine or going with some harleys

CANES676400 Oct 2, 2007 10:41 PM

the harleys still have the amber on the side, but i think it will look better than with no reflector

I have a set of HD lights in my '05 FX4 that I have removed the amber lenses from and replaced the marker lights with 'stealth' bulbs. It looks way cool.... To get the amber lenses out you need to pop them out with a screw driver and then go into the lamp housing with pliers, cutters, what ever and break the amber lense into small pieces than can fall out of the housing thru the lamp hole. Its pretty easy, but be patient as it takes a while to get the lense broken.

Check out this thread - headlights with clear reflectors instead of amber might look better than trying to break up the amber in your current headlights.
