gear ratio ques??

I am running 3.73s in my truck now. an 05 f150 with 35s on it. I will eventually upgrade to 37s but that will be later. I am wanting to know which ones I should get. 4.56s or 4.88s. I would like to get YUKONS, but am not sure if they offer them for my truck, or a set of Richmonds. I would consider also the new G2s. Which gears are better in yalls opinion? What are yall runnin on here?? When I order them do I need to get the full install kit, or the littler one?? I am wanting to do this mod because I am tired of not having my grunt from a dig. Intake, tuner and exhaust help but not as good as I had hoped for it too. Any help would be appreciated.

NEED MORE POWER

There are several threads that cover this topic; a search will yield results.

For the record, I agree with mSaLL150

basa, I know exactly how you feel. I'm in the same boat. Want 37's in the future, NEED gears now, 4.56's or 4.88's, hows that gonna affect your gas mileage.....

If you really think you want 37's, get 4.88's now. There is a 6% RPM difference pretty much across the board between the two. However, if you very extensive highway driving I might stick with 4.56's. I myself am probably going 4.88.

@ 80mph you push 2600rpm in OD with 4.88 and 2400 RPM with 4.56 gears.

Both of those measurements are with 35's on the truck. When you mount 37's your rpms will go down a bit.

which in turn will probably make you want to run out and by some 37's faster!! why, how convenient!!!!

If you do the math, all you have to figure out is which gear ration is more appealing to you.

30"/37" x 4.88=3.95 or 30"/37" x 4.56=3.69

If you want you truck to have a taller gear go with the 4.88 which would feel like you were driving a 3.95 ratio gear.

If you want to keep way if feels right now (3.73s) go with the 4.56 which would be like driving a 3.69 ratio. You will loose some launch but not much.

I would go with the 4.88s. You can never have enough launch in my opnion.
