Driver's window in-op!
I have a 2004 150 4X4 Super Cab XLT. I had my drivers side window down yesterday, and hit the switch to roll it up. It got about half way, and there was a really long BANG and it went all the way up. Like an idiot, I hit the switch to lower the window, and it slid all the way back down. But now it won't move. I can hear the motor turning in the door, but the window is stuck in the down position. Has anybody else had this happen? What broke, and how much did it cost to fix the problem?

It sound's like a window regulator, cost me a little over $200 to fix on my 04

my drivers side window is jacked too.. thought it was the switch, took it to the stealer for warranty, the replaced the switch, but didn't test or troubleshoot , and its still broke. So i have to schedule another trip. .. FUN~!!
i hate them.. chris |
Def a broken regulator. Had mine replaced under extended warrenty. Good thing you noticed. That happened to mine and I came back 2 hours later and the window rolled itself down.

It's freaky how many of these posts are popping up, it happened to me last Thursday on my 04'. Fords needs to issue a recall or something, I would assume this is something that should not fail this soon on a vehicle.

Just dropped it off yesterday at Galpin Ford service. The service rep was really cool and said I see your out warranty so I wll hook you and just charge the a $50 deductible like if you had extended warranty.

Had the same thing happen a month or so ago on my '05 KR ... around $200 out the door for a new regulator.

Happend to me last month also. Cable wrapped around the motor like spaghetti. Ford fixed it under warranty. Good luck.

regulator is just mechanical linkage, unless there is something in the window track, going slow is not a symptom of a bad window regulator

Same exact thing happened to me week before last. Sounded like a cable broke, or slipped off a pulley. Dealer said I needed a new window regulator and motor assembly.
Cost $325 and covered under my extended warranty (except an hour of diagnostic time; labor manual says 1 hour of labor and no diag time.) Just got a call from my wife today and my father-in-law's truck did the same thing! Kind of ironic that it's happening to everyone all of a sudden. |
Same Same Here, Back in July rolled window down and up heard something snap and window started going down by itself. Go fiqure 8 days out of warranty. Dealer offers 2 addtional repairs after warranty ends but suggested I repair myself to save the 2 for major repairs. I dug into the door panel and found out the plastic piece on the regulator that attaches to the window was cracked and cable let go. Researched supply system for part but to no avail. Cost $142 for new regulator with the same plastic piece of %$#@ out the door plus time to do it. Fairly easy to do but it would of been cheaper if plastic piece was available in the part system. I expect happening again but maybe ford will offer part by then. Interesting fact Dealer I bought reg from said they ordered many regulators in the past few weeks. Ford should offer some sort of repair for this issue.
:beers: |
most of the people with the problems have 2, 3 or 4 year old trucks. That just normal wear and tear. Thats like crying to ford that your oil got dirty and they should do a recall on it :coffee:
