Why did you buy Ford vs. the others?

because canada has the stupid law of requiring DRL. Studies show that it doesn't reduce accidents. but gm (God's mistake) thinks everyone should have DRL. thats ok.. there bulb suplier is the cheapo brand.. they burn out very quickly.. presto.. no DRL.
I could never get myself to put good money towards a GMC product... a bias that has lasted my entire driving life. The Dodge just does not have a good record. I owned a Toyota before but probably won't again. The Nissan? Seriously.
Ford was the one for me.

The nut fell off on somehow and I just got it tied up with a shoestring right now.
I had a 2003 Tacoma Doublecab and was getting crappy gas mileage, paint was crap (it was even chipping in the doorjambs), gutless, needed new rotors at less than 13000 miles (not covered by Toyota), crappy stereo, uncomfortable to ride in etc. I also have a 2003 Suburban and although I like the size the leather is wearing badly, ABS sensors had to be replaced, transmission had to be reprogrammed, suspension problems in front. I had these problems fixed under warranty and now they are returning now that it is out of warranty. I am not saying I haven't had problems with my F150 but they were all covered and the truck still feels stable and tight and looks great. The only vehicles I have never had problems with are Hondas/Acuras but I can't bring myself to drive something that looks like it's out of Star Wars.
I bought strictly because my Ranger saved my life. Rolling 9 times 1 of which was end over end, and I came out with 6 stitches and a 2nd degree burn from the seatbelt. My ex, got a little more messed up but she wasnt buckled in.
Anyways, the truck did exacttly what it shouldve, and we both lived to tell about it.
After July 1st 2006, I knew that I would never buy anything other then a Ford, no matter how much I want something different.
Plus I get family discounts for a few more yrs til my G-pa passes away. So I gotta get a new F150 here shortly. Hopefully atleast 2 more yrs with her, get halfway through my term and then get a new model. But it might just be next July-Sept.

I have an '02 with 49k miles on it, aside from 2 rusty doors, rusting cab corner, and a leaking windshield it has been a good truck. However I really don't care for the looks of either the newer F-150's or F-250/350. My dad's old '92 GMC has been a darn good truck, I will give them a look next time, hopefully they last more than 5 years before the rust moves in (his has). Of course a Cummins Dodge would be nice too, and I think they dropped the Cummins on the newer Power Wagons. I like my Ford's, but I try to be open minded towards others.
My dad was a GM guy for about 21 years but after one problem after another he just got tired of it. Always bought new and sold them within 5 years and before 100k miles, every last one did not even come close to making it that far. Trip after trip to the dealer headgaskets, fuel pumps, transmission, bearings, ball joints you name it and he replaced it. Sad thing is him and my mother both babied the vehicles. I knew GM sucked *** and decided I would save myself the headache and buy a more reliable vahicle.
I was young and stupid, bought into all the Toyota hype and therefore my first car was a Toyota. It was the worst vehicle ever. The Toyota feell apart much quicker than the GM's and was by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned. I knew I needed a fullsize truck for my towing and hauling needs, and had a Dodge before my 150. The dodge was a nice truck but the fit and finish is **** poor, looks like a blind monkey with downs syndrome assembled the thing; nothing lined up. After sitting in the 150 I knew if the fit and finish inside the cab was this good surely the thing was just generally better built. This was the first Ford my immediate family has purchased and it has been a fantastic truck. Good mileage, great towing, killer looks and has been perfect in terms of reliability even after 32k in one year.

Generations of Ford ownership, and involvement with the company for starters. Looks, durability, driving comfort, capacity, cab roominess, off road ability. (When modded), and price.
Yes a Dodge Power Wagon would easily work the pants off this thing off road, but on road they are rather harsh. GM was never a real option. Aside from Saturn, I have NEVER had anything but bad experience with General Motors.
The choices for me, since I wanted a full size American extended cab 4x4 with a 6+ foot bed in a half ton configuration were limited. The Dodge quad cab was pretty much the only competition for my dollars as the Tundra at the time was NOT a serious competitor (and still has a LONG way to go to catch up in a lot of areas, HP not withstanding). I am seeing a LOT of Titans falling to pieces, and a good condition 5 year old GM truck that is actually used off road for hunting and such is a rare animal indeed!
And lastly, my Ranger vs. a 1985 Pontiac Parisienne with me doing > 5mph, and the Poncho doing 70... I was able to drive the Ranger off the freeway (I was stopped because a then new Chevy lost his ball joint in front of me). I got out of that one with only minor lacerations, a sore back, and glass in my scalp.

Before buying my '06 last year, I considered Titan and Tundra (for a second). There is no way in a million years I could seem myself driving either one; they are just about the ugliests vehicles on the road. On the other hand, the F-150 is a very nice-looking truck.
I tend to believe Ford are the best-built trucks out there.

Drive 'em all and buy what you like. I did in 04, 05 and 06. FX4 scab, Lariat screw, and then back to the FX4 scab. Too many mod's to start over now and I just plain ol like this truck too much the way it is to get rid of it! Power is not an issue when you find the right custom tuner and do simple bolt on mod's.
