I noticed Troyer talking about 310 rwhp for a stock Lightning dyno pull in the link you posted. Well I can personally attest to seeing 350 rwhp on a stock Lightning, and this was on an accurate dyno. Cobra's (03-04), I've seen all over the map from 350- almost 400, and that's stock.
Unfortunately, I never saw any F150's on the rollers. I used to pop by my friends performance shop to watch the different car and truck clubs come through on dyno days. Haven't been back in a while.
TP's own dyno ( DynoJet 224xLC Eddy Current/Load Cell), is 'stingy' - and meticulously maintained. He's also a top Lightning tuner and runs one himself.

Many factors could account for a 40 rwhp difference - and again, he's run hundreds, and you saw what, one?

Just sayin'.

You mean going form SD to Mass Air, right?

Thanks - I need to get this done one day .... and there's always good 'ol Brandon LOL!

yes, its been discussed that we have very inefficient transmissions... stock 01-04 lighhtnings put 385 hp at the crank, and yes some have dynoed at 350 or so. when i dynoed 2 years ago i was supposedly at aound 410-415 hp at the crank (according to roush) yet i only put down 308 at the wheels...

why they dont use those wonderful 4r100's in all these trucks is beyond me...

LOL, oh yeah! Well the guy I'm talkin bout is a very well known tuner as well. He has a Dynojet, and gets customers from all over too (Canada and US)!!! I'd mention a few of his customers but I was sworn to secrecy. You know how the ego's of some of these racers are if they get supprt from one another, especially when it involves the development of their race cars. (he even had a Nascar in there once). As for his skills in the performance industry go, I say he's a tuner first.
I've seen several Lightnings get dyno'd, but only the one stocker that I can recall. I've seen A LOT of dyno pulls. I've seen Cobras dyno on the same day that were stock, and it's common knowledge that no 2 are alike, stock. It seems to be the 04's that get closer to the 400 rwhp mark over the 03's though.

Actually no, Mass to SD. I'm not sure if DFI is still big into aftermarket fuel management, but they were SD setups. The fallow I'm talking about wanted me to go to DFI, but that was just overkill for my setup.

Alas .. probably too subtle for him, though.

I prefer '3 Valve', meeself. I don't have 24 fingers... just easier for my poor old cabbage to grasp.

Does that net 20% loss also apply for rear wheel torque?

Hehe ....

Yup - losses are losses - and since HP is derived from torque, it's safe to say that the ~30%+ driveline loss applies....

You got a stick - yer lucky

.. like it already has been said, there is no set number. There are a lot of deciding factors.

I usually like to use 27% loss on these trucks as a base point though.
