Hi.

To ensure that warm & cozy feeling continues: right now, get your plugs removed, anti-sieze applied to the threads ( prior to 04), and reinstalled to spec torque (or snugged down by hand, then another 1/8- 1/4 turn, no more).

Just ask Jbrew.

My 05, gonna wait til about 90,000 and have them changed. If they stick to what the service manager said, they break them, it's their problem. that should be in about a year and a half, assuming I don't go for that Saleen Harley I looked at.

Yeah, but in this case, everything the service manager said should be in Spanish. Or at least TexMex.

hey guys... no anti seize goes nowhere on the threads, just on the ground shield electrode thingy... it shows on the TSB, dont put it on the threads peeps, it aint gonna help ya and prolly hurt ya, i mean put it all the way till it meets threads i guess, buts its really that long shank of smooth metal thats seizing up and binding, and dont get none near the... ummm pointy, protected by a metal hoody thing. and to answer your question about why no dealer has heard of this and just only us.... its cause they are full of it... ive had several dealers agree to change the plugs for about $320, than i told them.. "btw if you snap them off, you guys remove them" than they say they wont do it, and i dont need it till 100k, plus not many people have reached 100k, so they arent worried about it... but find the biggest ford dealer in your area and ill bet if you talk to a mechanic, he will tell you about hucking a wrench across the shop after snapping a plug... good dealerships will remove it and not charge you the labor, especially if you know what your talking about.. i believe if i just torqued them off, i would have snapped at least 7 plugs, the tsb is gold just be careful

loc-tite copper anti-seize would be the best bet. The heads on the tritons are aluminum, and the copper anti-seize acts like a base lubricant and anti-seize between aluminum and something else I.E. steel, aluminum, brass, whatever.... Keeps out corrosion, gulling, and of coarse, seizing. I haven't tried it, but I know thats what certain mechanics have told me.
