Window switch
take it apart and blow air in it. Ive been fighting this problem long enough. last time i took it out and blew it with the air compressor and it hasnt failed me since. Few threads out there about this problem.
I imagine that the design of the switches/dorr area where the switches are is at fault. There seem to be a ton of people with issues relating to this area, mostly with the issue of the lights failing in the switches, some worse as stated here. It always is just the driver side. I think when people ride with the window down and it gets wet from rain or whatnot, it must get into the components there, perhaps dust and stuff as well that was mentioned here. Ford needs to redesign this area to seal it properly so all these problems go away. Perhaps in 2009 they will redesign it? Can't be that hard to redesign this little area for better protection from the elements. Can't expect the driver of a pickup to roll up his window at the first sign of rain or a little dust even...
Happened to me and took it into the dealer and they replaced the switch and then about a week ago my whole assembly started making wierd noises and i took it in and they replaced the whole assemble and window and now its brand new again.
