I put a Hidden Hitch on my '04 since it was near half as much as the dealer wanted. The dealer price was ridiculous. It fit like a glove and did not have a problem with it at all when I pulled the mini excavator.

Ebay has a Reese and OEM one for $50/$35, respectively

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention... If you have a truck without the OEM towing package, and you want to add the OEM hitch, it's a major PITA. Not only is the OEM hitch just a hitch, it is also the integrated bumper support. So, you'd have to take off the entire rear bumper, take off the existing bumper support (a piece about 5' long), and THEN install the OEM hitch (along with 2 additional brackets). Then you'd have to replace the bumper, and probably buy a new plastic bumper cover (since they almost always break when you take them off).

Installing an OEM hitch on a non-factory tow pkg truck is not a cake walk. OTOH, installing an aftermarket hitch on the same truck is about 20 minutes... Something to think about...

I bought the Hidden hitch class III. I tow a lot with it and no problems...its super easy to install, I did it by myself in like 30 minutes. Go to etrailer.com.

Actually I bought a Reese IV hitch off eBay for my S10 about a year ago. Paid $55 shipped from Mich. to Ill. I checked UPS for weight, time & cost - must have cost him $35 just for shipping.

People that ship a lot usually get accounts with the courier they use. This saves them big-time in shipping. I looked into that about a year ago with UPS. If I could have kept up to the expectations (need to ship X many items per month to keep account), the savings on shipping costs were tremendous.

I'm going to chime in on the Curt hitch. I had one on my Ranger, and now one on my F150, and the hitch will handle more than I want to throw at it, and 10x at least more than you are going to throw at it.

The folks I know that tow have the following rigs and hitches.

2004 F150 4x4 Curt hitch.
2007 F150 4x4 Curt hitch
2006 Dodge 2500 Cummins 4x4 Curt hitch.
1996 Dodge 2500 Cummins Resse hitch.
2004 Expedition 4x2 Curt hitch
2008 F250 4x4 Curt hitch.
2003 F250 4x4 Curt hitch
2001 F150 4x2 Reese hitch

I guess there is a bit of a tendency here...

Any hitch will do. Etrailer has really low shipping rates. I know my hitch can handle a crapton. I have towed a 23ft toybox loaded, towed a buggy with two quads on it...any hitch will do for what you want. Hell you can even put the ball on your bumper and it will do just fine.

I feel so stupid. I meant receiver not hitch. My 07 came with the tow package so it already has a hitch. I had my words confused, what a newbie. What receiver should I get? Ford or Aftermarket

I think you're more confused than you think... Hitch and receiver are the same thing; they are the part that is bolted and/or welded to your truck's frame. Next, you would need a drawbar (aka stinger, shank, etc) that goes into the hitch/receiver on your truck. The ball mounts to the drawbar...

Which do you need, the hitch/receiver or the drawbar?? You mentioned that you have the tow package, so all you should need is a drawbar and a ball. Just about any 2"x2" drawbar will do fine. The only thing you need to determine is what "drop" size you need. Is your trailer substansially lower/higher than your receiver? If so, then you need to measure the difference, and get a drawbar with that amount of "drop"... What ball you need will depend on what size coupler the trailer has on it. The options are 1 7/8", 2", and 2 5/16". Again, it must match the coupler on the trailer.
