PTM handles - remove lock cylinder?

I've read about people getting broken into through their door lock cylinders. I was wondering, if I do PTM handles could I replace the driver's side with a rear left handle from a super cab and take out the lock cylinder all together? Granted, if someone really wants in they can just bust the window, the one time I got broken in to that's what they did, cinderblock through the passenger window.

Yes you can do that, some on here have done it. The one thing is that you lose your keyless entry pad if you have one. Ford does sell an accessory keypad that can stuck on the truck somewhere else.
We did one truck for a repeat victim, the bodyman expoxied the keyhole and finished it with filler, painted and wala, handle with keyless and no key hole.

There are a couple options there. And we do install rear handles up front quite often too.

Is it possible to just make the lock cylinder useless by disconnecting the rod from the end or just taking the rod out completely?

No, was a question to whomever has a better idea of the workings inside the door lock mechanism.
