With my 325/60/18's and 3.73 gears, I am running right around 1800 rpms @ 65.

Found this in the Self-help Aisle :D

http://www.oly4x4.com/gearratios.htm

This is for 1:1 ( no OD). For rpm in OD, apply the OD reduction correction factor [4th = 0.70:1]

You'll need basic math skills, though

Fun with numbers :beers:

Pick tranny (4r75w or 4r75e same ratios)
Pick any transfercase (doenst matter when not 4x4ing)
pick gears
pick tires
scroll down and at the bottom it has RPM vs MPH

I have never looked at 65, but at 75, I am running dead on 2000 rpms. 5.4, 3.55LS, 265/70/17.

last5oh_302 Aug 16, 2007 10:55 AM

At 73 mph I'm reving 2000 bang on.
373's here with 275 70 17's.

At 65 mph I'm reving right around 1800 rpm.

36" tires.... 3.73.... @65mph about 1450ish `

With a .70 final drive on the 4R70W trans, 36" tall tires and 3.73 gear ratio, at 65mph your engine would be turning EXACTLY 1585RPM. I use a handy little calculator my friend made, here's a link:

Running stock 18s with stock tires (only 9000 miles on the truck) and my RPMs are right around 2000 when running between 70-75. (who actually drives the speed limit at 65, besides old ladies?)

04procompLARIAT Aug 16, 2007 03:06 PM

Well I drive around 80 and my rpm's are dead on at 2000. I just thought 80 was a little fast for some of you old timers!

extremeethan Aug 16, 2007 03:39 PM

Did you miss all my gear post? All I do is 80 and I was right at 2k dead on too.

Oxlander Aug 16, 2007 04:26 PM

I'm turning 1560 @ 65 mph. 295/70R17 (33x12) with 3.55 gears. I know this isn't the optimal setup for these tires but I like the low rpms on the highway.
