4.56's

Does anyone know where I can for sure get 4.33 or like 4.30 gears. I do a lot of highway driving and am worried 2500 rpms at 80 with 4.56's will be way to high for all the high speeds I do. MPGs come before my towing ability, but I need some more low end, I dont tow that often. isnt our main tq band right around 2200-2300 RPMs?

You also have 38's....

These two statements are pretty contradictory IMHO….

You seem to be concerned to an extent with MPG, yet openly claim to drive 80mph in a lifted 4x4 brick.

Your on 38's though, Im only 35's and whats your guys highway speed? Here we get passed doing 80, I got to be able to cruise at a good speed yet keep my rmps where I feel comfortable like 22 2300 not like 2470 or something where I figured them to be.

extremeethan Jul 25, 2007 12:21 AM

I just dont like the sound of my motor turing almost 2500 while I am cruising, I know 80 hurts me but hell any slower and someone will rearend. Reguardless I want a good mix fast with good take off and I feel 4 30s would be my best bet unless I am wrong with my RPM numbers

patshea098 Jul 25, 2007 12:52 AM

mine are just under 2000 with my 4.56 cruising the highway at 77. 77 because thats the speed i get least shaking from my rear end.

unless you have the 8.8 rear no one makes 4.30, the 9.75 goes from 4.10 to 4.56

I am having a hard time getting myself to put 1600$ gears in my truck when I plan on selling it in a year. I am think 4.56s are to steep for as much highway as I do, it would bug the heck out of me cruising at 2500 RPMs. I am happy with my power now I just wanted to take this camping trip with our trailer but I would need lower gears to pull it. I think I am just going to use my dads truck that way I dont need to get gears or swap out my center arm rest. Thanks for all the replys but I would be more likely to do gears is someone made 4 30's

LMAO! Are you serious? He's on 35s of course he needs gears to pull something like that!

extremeethan Jul 25, 2007 06:53 PM

I know I need gears but I choke on the 1600$ bill that is more then I have spent on any mod at one time. I dont mind spending a little here and a little there, but 1600 seems like so much for just one thing.

patshea098 Jul 25, 2007 07:04 PM

you shouldnt be paying 1600 for gears and install period lol

Bartak1 Jul 25, 2007 07:13 PM

I wouldnt even THINK about new gears if you are going to get rid of it in a year.

In my old truck I alway wanted to stick 4.10s in it but knew I would be getting rid of it in a year so I just stuck it out with the 3.55s. Would have been a waste of money. Gears arent cheap.
