Exclamation Wet carpet!!!

Passenger side carpet is wet......really wet. I've probaby squeezed 1 qt of water out of the insulation under the carpet. No wet spot on the concrete under the truck when it's running. Diagnosis seems easy --either the condensation drain is plugged or fell off. Now for the hard part (for my mind today anyway.) I can't locate the drain for the life of me. Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Gotten any rain lately? There's plenty of threads about wet passenger floor carpet after rain. Mine did it and had to have the windshield resealed, three times.

one of the passenger side drain plugs is under all the wires in the door sill towards the front.

I had the same problem two years back-- it is the air conditioning. The condensation wasn't draining right-- backing up and into the passenger side of the cab and into the wire tray under the door sill. It was a warranty issue for me then-- I was told a new and "improved" drain was installed, and the carpets were pulled out and dried. Get it done before your cab starts to stink.

Nope, it's not rain. Has rained once here in the last 45 days, and it was sittin in the garage at the time.

I found that plug by the wiring harness, I took it out to drain the 1/2" of water in the wiring tray.

Soaked carpet is limited to the passenger side floor, nothing wet in the back or driver side. It almost has to be a clogged or busted evaporator drain, but after hours of googling I haven't gotten any closer to finding that $#($&#* tube.

I've pulled up the carpet and gotten as much water out as I can. Truck goes to the dealer next week under warranty. I Was just hoping I could fix it myself.

Thanks for the info.

When I was installing my amp wiring I found the insulation on the passenger side to be wet as well. It was wet right at the bottom of evap case. Our A/C tech told me he had seen this before. The drain doesn't seem to be long enough, and the water backs up around the opening in the firewall and seeps in. He puts a 5/8" bypass hose on there that is a 90' bend, that way water drips downward and it doesn't have a chance to siphon back up. Done under warranty and no problems since.

there's a small rubber hose hanging down around where the tranmission sits. That would be the drain. Stick a low pressure air compresser on there and blow it out or start sucking!

Actually I finally found the drain on the exterior of the truck. I visited my father-in-law and crawled under his 2006. After the condensation hit my in the forhead I finally found it. On his truck there's what appears to be a 1/2" - 3/4" pipe sticking out appox 1/4" in from the firewall. No rubber hose or anything on his. I could see where a 90 would really help this issue. On my truck I can't even see it. I'm guessing either the heat shield is interfering with it, or it just sticking out less from the firewall (which would explain the water issues........) The only difference in our trucks is that mine is a lariat and his is an XLT.... But regardless, neither of our trucks have any type of hose hanging down.

Found where it exits from the inside too. If I mess with the gasket water starts leaking out.

Guess I'll just have to let the dealer take care of this one. Don't like having to fix things to a truck with 14,000, but I guess it's better than having to pay for it later.

I'm just wondering If I can get a new floor out of this. Still a little damp and smells a little.

ALso conserned about premature rust behind the heat shield...But I guess if I can't see it there's nothing to worry about, right?

Pics for those with similar issues.

Here's the interior photo showing the drain location.

Here's the approx. location of where the drain should be coming out of the firewall.

Same situation here..5000 miles.....fix was an elbow....heat sheild must be removed for install...difficult to get heat sheild back on but it can be done.....Gary (tech) at Maxwell Ford in Austin finally came up with the solution.

water was tracking back and being "leached" into carpet pad through holes in floorboard....Ford replaced my carpet.

I guess I'll have to take a trip into the dealer. Wish I could fix this myself, if it's a quick fix.
I did roughly 700 km's yesterday up to the Algonquin Park area and back, and for the first time ever, my better half noticed that one of her shoes was wet (spare set of shoes tucked in sitting on the floor) and the drip was coming from that black box under the passenger side dash (haven't looked at it closely yet so from the drivers side looking down at paaenger side it looks like a vent or black box). It wasn't a lot of water but enough that I'll have it addressed.
I assume this has become common enough that the dealer will know what I'm talking about.
